“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!” Last night, members of Eagle Truck Company #3 channeled their inner Patches O’Hoolihan during a lively game of dodgeball — with a serious purpose behind the fun.

The exercise doubled as an air management drill, challenging firefighters to conserve their air bottles while staying active and agile. Proficiency in air management is critical on the fireground, where firefighters must rely on cylinders of breathable air while working in hazardous environments.

By combining fun and physical activity with real-world skill development, the NAFD ensures members stay motivated, engaged, and prepared to handle the demands of the job. Training doesn’t always have to be traditional — what matters most is the readiness it builds for when we’re called to serve.
