North Arlington, NJ — The North Arlington Fire Department has officially welcomed its newest fire engine into town, marking a significant investment in the safety and protection of the borough.

The state-of-the-art Seagrave pumper was delivered by Hudson Valley Fire Equipment late last week and will be assigned to Hose Company #1, located on River Road. Equipped with modern technology, advanced safety features, and increased pumping capacity, the new engine enhances the department’s ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies throughout the community.

Mayor and Council members joined Deputy Chief Robert Fellrath and Department personnel for an informal viewing at Hose Company #1 on Thursday, where the new engine was unveiled to the Department, underscoring the strong bond between the borough and its volunteer fire service.

The purchase of the engine was made possible through a combination of borough funding and long-term planning by Company #1’s apparatus planning committee. The new unit replaces a 1999 KME Pumper that has served the borough for almost 26 years and will now be reassigned as a reserve engine for the Department.

Former Chief and Apparatus Committee Chairman, Robert Kairys, shared “This was a long process that started with our first meeting about five years ago. Seeing the new engine now in the firehouse is so satisfying. I am looking forward to getting it into service later this year.”

With its bright new look and upgraded capabilities, the engine will no doubt draw attention as it rolls through town. The new Engine 1 will officially be put into service later this year, after it’s been outfitted with the proper tools and membership has properly trained on the new equipment.

“The arrival of our new engine marks the culmination of five years of hard work, planning, and patience. This new apparatus isn’t just a fire truck: it represents our community’s investment in safety, our firefighters’ commitment to service, and the progress of our department. We’re proud of our accomplishment and look forward to having this engine serve the borough and its dedicated firefighters for many years to come”, shared Deputy Chief Fellrath.

This apparatus will serve as a symbol of the dedication and preparedness of the North Arlington Fire Department and its volunteers, just as Chief Fellrath shared, who remain ready to respond day or night.
